Culture, Race, and the Church has been created to equip students for the increasing challenges of effective multiethnic ministry. Students will be exposed to both negative and positive ways that the church has used Scripture to address cultural changes in
society. The student will become acquainted with various views that the church and society have held concerning culture, the origin of the races, racism, segregation, interracial (or inter-ethnic) marriage, and the consequences of such views in a multicultural pluralistic society. By adhering to a Trinitarian worldview and obeying the two Great Commandments, the student will learn how to relate to different ethnic/cultural groups with love, integrity, compassion, and humility as they promote biblical unity and diversity. The student will be challenged, by God’s grace, to develop a forward-thinking, biblical worldview and to focus on making, not merely reading, history through personal and community change.

Dr. A. Charles Ware serves as executive director of Grace Relations and special assistant to the president at the College of Biblical Studies in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Before coming to CBS, Dr. Ware served as president and president emeritus of Crossroads Bible College, a biblically conservative evangelical institution dedicated to training Christian leaders to a reach multiethnic urban world for Christ. Dr. Ware served as senior pastor of Crossroads Bible Church in Indianapolis; founder of Bethel Bible Church, Camp Spring, Maryland; and founder/senior pastor of Scranton Revival Baptist Church in Scranton, PA.

Dr. Ware is the founder of Grace Relations Network. He speaks in many venues and serves as a consultant on racial reconciliation and leadership. His ministry is well received by audiences of all ethnic groups. Dr. Ware has authored, co-authored, and edited several books. Among these is One Race, One Blood (Master Books, 2007). Dr. Ware co-authored this book with \"Answers in Genesis\" founder and President Ken Ham.

Dr. Ware has served on several boards including the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE), the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), Anchorsaway, and the Biblical Counseling Coalition advisory board.

Dr. Ware and his wife, Sharon, have six children, three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and four grandchildren.

Ken Davis served as Director of Church Planting with Project Jerusalem at Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, PA for 20 years. Project Jerusalem trained seminarians to be church planters while assisting local churches to plant churches in the spiritually needy Northeast. Several of these new churches are intentionally multiethnic congregations. Previously Ken served for 23 years in Indianapolis where he helped plant two ethnically diverse churches and taught at Crossroads Bible College (now The College of Biblical Studies) where he taught missions and served in numerous administrative roles. Because Crossroads focused on training leaders for multi-ethnic urban ministry, Ken is passionate about seeing many more healthy multiethnic and economically diverse congregations in North America.

Ken grew up as a teenager in Guyana, South America where he and his brother were the only “whites” in their high school. In college days he served on a team that launched one of the first diverse evangelical Baptist congregations in the Carolinas. He has researched and written numerous journal articles on multiethnic themes. With a passion for global missions, he has led mission teams overseas to Guyana, Ghana, Trinidad, and Mexico. Ken has a D. Min. in Missiology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity
School in Deerfield, IL. Married 46 years, he and his wife, Sharon, have four children and seventeen grandchildren.

The mission of Grace Relations is to equip Christians to engage in interracial and multiethnic ministry by encouraging one another (Ephesians 4:29), fostering and maintaining loving relationships (John 13:35), engaging in evangelism and discipleship (Matthew 28:19-20), and glorifying God (Matthew 6:9-10).

Under the leadership of the Executive Director, Dr. Charles Ware, the Grace Relations Council works with the CBS President to create strategic accountability, oversight, and governance regarding the establishment and maintenance of a multiethnic Christian culture that reflects the love of God and others. In addition, the Grace Relations Council regularly provides institution-wide communication and progress reports to the College's constituents. The Council seeks to impact the world by sharing what we learn and how we engage with others through a variety of speaking, training, and consulting resources.
